About Me
I have been an educator for almost two decades in international curricula in UK and India. My experiences have inspired me to become an educational consultant as it provides me with the opportunity to share my expertise with the wider community. I strongly believe that the purpose of education is preparing students for life and it is critical we teach them the skills and competencies required to survive in a complex world.
My most recent experience as an educator, is of a school principal at Indus International School Hyderabad, India. Indus Hyderabad is an International Baccalaureate school offering the Primary, Middle and Diploma Programmes. At the start of my tenure as the principal our enrolment stood at 292 students and in a span of three years our enrolment increased to a healthy 825 students — an indicator of the strategic plans implemented.
Some of my key responsibilities at Indus Hyderabad were academic excellence, teacher development, curriculum planning and implementation, innovation, marketing and admissions, community service and parent partnership. I also played an instrumental role in the accreditation and evaluation process the school underwent to secure authorisation from the International Baccalaureate Organisation.
During my tenure at Indus, I also spearheaded the establishment of Indus’ early learning centres in Hyderabad, Chennai and Belgaum and their continuous growth.
I embarked on my teaching journey in 2001 as a Montessori teacher in London while working towards a diploma in Early Years and Pre-School Practice from London. Following which, I obtained my QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) from London, UK and taught the British curriculum for 8 years before moving to India and joining Indus Hyderabad as a teacher in the IB Primary Years Programme. Later, I became the head of primary school and eventually grew into the role of the principal (K-12) at Indus Hyderabad.
I recognise that the field of education is constantly evolving, and educating oneself continuously is critical to remain relevant in the field. Towards this goal, I have attended a number of IB workshops which focus on the primary, middle and diploma programmes, as well as workshops targeted towards early childhood education. I have also attended the Finnish Early Childhood Education and Care program (ECEC) conducted by the University of Jyväskylä, Finland to observe and understand pedagogical practices being followed in the Finnish system. It gave me a deeper understanding of the benefits of a holistic approach towards early education and the importance of personalising learning. I integrated best practices from the Finnish education system into existing schools’ curriculum and conducted intensive training for teachers to effectively absorb and implement the enhanced curriculum as a part of the integration process.
My rich experiences in international schools have given me an in-depth understanding into the various facets of a school, the roles they play and their intricacies.
Some areas that I feel are critical in a school’s success are:
-
creating a positive and enriching learning environment for students to flourish
-
developing empathy in students so that they build healthy relationships and respect the world they live in
-
continuous professional development for teachers with teacher mentorship programmes
-
having well defined systems and processes for academic excellence and operations
-
aligning parents with the schools philosophy to enrich their child’s learning
-
having processes in place for continuous evaluation of the school and for action plans to be implemented
I believe that developing a strong professional relationship with each client to strategically implement best practices through collaboration is key to success. My experiences have equipped me with the necessary knowledge and tools to evaluate challenges that schools face and implement successful data driven solutions. I work closely with educational institutions to understand their requirements and personalise services accordingly.
